IN-PLANT TRAINING & TOUR - TREATMENT PROCESSES AT CHICAGO'S SOUTH WTP

TOPIC: The talk will cover the history and evolution of operations at SWPP followed by an overview of Chicago’s current day water and sewer system. The treatment system will be discussed in detail, supplemented by video taken of the JWPP treatment process. The impact of trends in consumption and population served on operations will be presented. In addition a presentation on actuators and filter controls will be provided explaining a recent upgrade to the plant from pneumatically controlled actuators to electrically controlled actuators for the filters.

IMPORTANT INFO & REQUIREMENTS:

  • No onsite registrants will be permitted in the plant.
  • Event registration closes 08/18/18.
  • No Pictures
  • Attendees must bring a photo ID - drivers license or passport
  • Wear something comfortable (temperature could be chilly  in the plant) and closed-toed shoes. No high heels or flip flops
  • Attendees will be provided with hardhats. If you have your own you may bring it.

CARPOOLING/PARKING: Public transit is not encouraged for this event. Carpooling is encouraged but parking will be in the visitors lot.


REGISTRATION & HOURS: Registration begins at 7:30am. The training will start at 8:00am and will conclude by 12:00pm. Earn up to 4 Professional Development Hours (PDH's) for engineers or Renewal Training Credit (RTC) hours for water operators. Continental breakfast will be included.
