PLANT #1: Calumet Water Reclamation Plant

Calumet Water Reclamation Plant began operation 1922 and is the oldest of the seven wastewater treatment facilities within the metropolitan Chicago area. Calumet treats the wastewater from an area of approximately 300 square miles (parts of the City of Chicago and the southern suburbs) and serves a population of over a million people with a design average flow of 354 MGD. The TARP (Tunnel and Reservoir Plan) Pumping Station is located adjacent to the treatment plant.
PLANT #2: Jardine Water Purification Plant

Jardine Water Purification Plant has been in service since 1964 and is the largest conventional treatment plant in the world. It draws raw water from water intake cribs offshore in Lake Michigan and sends nearly one billion gallons of safe, reliable water each day to consumers in the north and central portions of the City and suburbs.
TRANSPORTATION: Registrants attend at their own risk. Please understand that attendees are encouraged to drive or car pool to this event. Parking is limited at Jardine.REGISTRATION & HOURS:
Registration begins at 8:45am at the Calumet plant. The tour will start at 9:00am and will conclude by 12:00pm. The tour will continue at Jardine at 1:00pm. A pizza lunch will be provided at the Calumet plant after the tour.

All attendees MUST bring their driver’s license, state ID, or passport as appropriate.
No high heels or open toes shoes are permitted. Please wear comfortable walking shoes that are appropriate for an operational and sometimes wet environment. No cameras or picture taking is allowed. Hardhats will be required and are provided.
