Industrial Network Hacking Awareness & Prevention

SUMMARY: Industrial networks have become victim to a number of high profile hacking activities recently. Electrical utilities are working on standards to address cyber-security through the NERC/CIP standards and its likely wastewater will soon follow suit. The presenter will be providing an informative session on industrial network hacking techniques and offering up effective solutions to deter such events. Topics include:
• Discuss the evolution of the Industrial Ethernet and SCADA network
• Understand the concepts and vulnerabilities that are often exploited
• See demonstrations of basic hacking techniques and how effective they can be against Industrial Networks.
• Learn some of the key networking terms and what they mean for you
• Become aware of simple and effective techniques that can be employed to prevent such attacks in the future

REGISTRATION & HOURS: Registration begins at 7:30am. The training will start at 8:00am and will conclude by 12:00pm. Earn up to 4 PDH’s or RTC hours. Continental breakfast will be included.

Matt Cowell, Phoenix Contact

Matt Cowell is an Automation Sales Engineer for Phoenix Contact out of Chicago, IL. Since graduating as a bachelor of Engineering out of the University of Brighton in the UK, he has developed a background of embedded product development and systems integration for various industries accumulating in 10+ years of experience. Matt has particular interest and expertise in industrial networking and SCADA and has completed the Control Systems Security Program hosted by the Department of Homeland Security in Idaho.
