Systematic Approach to Water Treatment Plant Process Optimization
SUMMARY: The goal of this seminar is to help water treatment plant operators effectively control water treatment processes and operations, improve the quality if finished water, and reduce chemical and other operational costs. We will discuss various approaches to the optimization of water treatment processes and operations including coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, filtration, lime softening and others. We will also address issues that are often overlooked in water treatment plant operations, including chemical feed rate optimization, choice of coagulant, rapid and flocculation mixing, and source water quality monitoring for effective operational control. Each topic will include general theory and case studies.

Alex Yavich, Optimization Solutions Environmental, LLC
Alex Yavich is the founder of the Optimization Solutions
Environmental, LLC. He received a bachelor’s degree and a master’s
degree in chemical engineering from Russian universities and a Ph.D. in
environmental engineering from Michigan State University. Yavich has
over 20 years experience in applied and academic research, process
engineering, design and consulting in water and wastewater treatment
fields. He currently focuses on chemical feed and process optimization
for water treatment plants.
