08/20/13 SCADA System Maintenance (Joliet, IL)
Looking for the Handouts for this class? Presenter will have them onsite.
sophisticated SCADA Systems installed in a large majority of water and
facilities, the need for ongoing maintenance of those systems is critical to
their accuracy and reliability. Similar to maintaining a piece of equipment
like a pump, maintenance of electrical and electronic equipment is also
important to keep that equipment operating as originally designed and at its
peak efficiency. This class will include a quick overview of the components of
a SCADA system, such as motor control centers, instruments, programmable
controllers, computers, and software and then go into detail as to what
maintenance needs to be performed, basic schedules, and general costs.
SPEAKER: Brent Studnicka, Strand Associates
Brent has been intimately
involved with SCADA systems for over 20 years. He has a passion for
helping SCADA system users make the most out of their systems by helping users
understand their systems better. While he is an Electrical Engineer by
degree, his training and experience has been in process control and
monitoring. This experience and training have given him an excellent
understanding of the individual components that are used in SCADA systems as
well as the big picture of the overall integrated system. Brent is proud
to say his background is not limited to SCADA system design, as he has worked
with numerous SCADA system users to define a maintenance and replacement
strategy that meets the User’s needs and budget constraints.
