Summary: Cave-ins are perhaps the most feared trenching hazard.  However, other potentially fatal hazards exist when working below ground.  The purpose of this training to prove an overview of the hazards associated with underground utilities work and how you can protect yourself.  This training will cover the following topics:

Jobsite safety and health programs

Surface precautions

Working with other utilities

Access/egress from excavations

Hazardous atmospheres

Water hazards

Protective systems

Sloping and benching

Daily inspections

Presenter: Brian Sexton is an industrial hygienist with over 14 years of experience in the health & safety profession ranging from construction, hazardous waste operations, healthcare industry, indoor air quality and general industry. Mr. Sexton is the Regional Safety Specialist responsible for Aqua Illinois safety program and is an OSHA Authorized General Industry Trainer
