Confined Space Training

CEU TYPE: Technical
TRAINING CLASSIFICATION:
IEPA#:
8923

TOPIC:  Confined spaces present many hazards that need to be properly addressed to control/reduce risks.  The OSHA standard (29CFR 1910.146) will be covered in detail.  Elements for a written program; permit, inventory, and training examples will be provided.  Hazard evaluation practices will be discussed and how to address the hazards.  Retrieval, lighting, ventilation, air monitoring, respiratory protection, and personal protective equipment options will be discussed in detail.  Responsibilities for both the entrant and the look-out will be covered.  Materials will be provided to attendees to assist with conducting their own entry exercises and rescue practices (these must be hands-on for the entire team).  Requirements for non-permit entries and the possibility for declassifying a space will be reviewed.

INSTRUCTOR:  Ken Beach, CHMM, Fehr Graham Engineering & Environmental, has over 30 years of EHS experience, 22 years in industry and 10 years in consulting.  He is a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager, since 1991.  In his current position he manages 8 EHS professionals, serving over 200 industrial, municipal, and healthcare operations.  Ken has conducted training for nearly all OSHA requirements.  He has a passion for making the training interactive and leaving an impression on attendees for the importance and benefits of following good practices.
