TOPIC: The talk will cover the history and evolution of operations at JWPP followed by an overview of Chicago’s current day water and sewer system. The treatment system will be discussed in detail, supplemented by video taken of the JWPP treatment process. The impact of trends in consumption and population served on operations will be presented as well.

INSTRUCTOR:
Andrea Putz, City of Chicago Department of Water Management
Andrea Putz is the Water Research Specialist for the City of Chicago Department of Water Management where she is lucky enough to spend her days working on her passions - drinking water treatment, water efficiency, and water meters. Andrea has been with the City of Chicago since 2004. After receiving her BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, she began her graduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin where she earned her Masters degree and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering. Andrea has been a member of AWWA for 14 years and is actively involved in local AWWA section activities.



IMPORTANT INFO & REQUIREMENTS:

  • No onsite registrants will be permitted in the plant.
  • Event registration closes 03/28/16.
  • Attendees shall be currently employed in the water industry or a current university student (18 Years or Older).  Proof will be required.
  • No Pictures
  • Attendees must bring a photo ID - drivers license or passport
  • Wear something comfortable for chilly temperatures (not as cold as outside but still chilly) and comfortable, closed-toed shoes. No high heels or flip flops
  • Attendees will be provided with hardhats. If you have your own you may bring it.
CARPOOLING/PARKING: Public transit is available for this event, however there is a 10+ minute walk uphill from the Plant Entrance to the meeting room. Carpooling is encouraged but parking will be in the visitors lot.

REGISTRATION & HOURS:
Registration begins at 8:30am. The tour will start at 9:00am and will conclude by 12:00pm. This event is worth up to three (3) renewal training credit hours for water operators or professional development hours for engineers. Continental breakfast included.
