Stacey RamseyDavid Trais
Survey Results Spreadsheet was discussed. A question was asked about what training revenue is used for. Angela stated that direct costs are covered - food, venue, etc. and it was included in the chat box from Laurie that it covers staff salaries, printing of book, mailing of book, overhead of office rent, copies for seminars, printing of banners for meetings, etc.
E.D.U.C.A.T.E. Award (Champion: Terry McGhee)
One award to a seminar presenter & one award to a webinar presenter.
Stretch Your Education WATERCON Track (Champion: Bill Balluff)
Angela has received 10 abstracts.
We have a SYE conference call scheduled 1/21 to discuss abstracts and scheduling.
Angela has indicated she will distribute abstracts for review – I have not yet received.
Angela will send out another e-mail.
Coordinate with YP Committee (Champion: Dawn Thompson)
Kyle confirmed interest in having the Education Committee present at their next meeting - Elisa will be talking to them about how to get involved and the Stretch Your Education track.
Underground Contractors Association Coordination (Champion: Wayne Pratt)
Operator Track @ WATERCON2016 (Champion: David Trais)
We are set with agenda, but we need moderators for IEPA sessions - Tuesday morning (Jeff will volunteer). Will do Operator Pledge again at the beginning of this session. Printed pledge sheets were on the chairs, and also on a projected screen. We will also print stickers again at the St. Charles office to pass out.
There are several people taking the ABC certification test who may be part of a ceremony to receive pins during this also.
Education Committee WATERCON Booth (Champion: Elisa Bonkowski)
They had a meeting on 12/21 and there will be a combined booth with a jeopardy game and giveaways - tape measure for game participants and iPad for winner of game, and raffle prize of $50 gift card for suggestions/ideas. Booth volunteers needed – click here and choose ISAWWA Committees Booth Staffer option to volunteer.
Seminar & Webinar Scheduling (Champion: Angela Podesta)
55 Seminars programmed for 2016, and still adding throughout the year. 9 Webinars set up through April, hoping for 24 over 12 months. Adding wastewater and plant maintenance technician track also (bearings, seals, control valves, pumps, electrical).
Training booklet is in the mail.
Wastewater Seminar/Webinar Training (Champion: John Gage)
Small Systems Outline is already done by John. Plan to solicit people to help develop the seminar in a box for the 6 categories. Elisa will be helping with this.
We were contacted by the Fox Valley Operators Association, who were interested in our training, and we asked if there were any people interested in presenting training for us also. Also made a contact with RCAP, who also has wastewater courses (seminar in a box). Laurie will discuss further with them.
Webinar Delivery (Champion: Marianne Perino)
9 Webinars programmed so far. More people are reaching out to us to present webinars.
Meter Symposium (Champion: David Said & Dave Weigers)
We will try to do 2 half-day seminars again this year. Angela is looking around for new locations for a half-day seminar that will hold about 100 people. Terry volunteered his location, but can only hold 50 people and will do 2 again this year.
Survey Response Management and Monitoring (Champion: Elizabeth Doellman)
The data is different in survey monkey than it was in the old data. Angela said that the half-day seminars are done with survey monkey. Marianne uses "go to webinar" for her surveys. Water Loss Audits were done on paper (required by the state). Angela will look to see if she missed some webinar data because Elizabeth doesn't have data for many of them. Jeff would like location information, length of seminar, and IEPA training number on the report also.
SPLASH Article (Champion: Jeff Freeman)
Spring article - flow chart of how a seminar topic is generated through the implementation of a seminar, etc. Elisa & Angela worked on this.
Operator Certification Advisory Board (Champion: Angela Podesta)
Board meets twice a year and they are looking into the rules for this. Next update will be at WATERCON.
Water Loss Audit Training Update (Champion: Wayne Pratt)
Steering Committee met 12/21 - they can't move forward with issuing grants without a state budget. Formulating Phase II training so that when the budget passes, we can move forward. Angela said we might be able to obtain some content from RCAP so we don't have to re-formulate. Laurie will discuss more with them next week.
AWWA Small Systems Grants
2 are scheduled for this year - Dietrich and Downs. One more is in the works.
Seminar in a Box (Champion:_________)
February 4 - Electrical class in Elgin - 4 weeks long
Plant Maintenance Technologist Certification Coursework (Champion: Robert Madura)
We need to find people to present on the topics from our list.
Next meeting: Wednesday, February 10, 2016 11am via AdobeConnect
