Hands-On Water Quality Testing

TOPIC: Instruction on the laboratory procedures for turbidity, chlorine, Coliform, phosphate and Fluoride analysis and how it relates to water treatment. Join us for a lecture and lots of hands-on lab experience.

INSTRUCTOR:  Marianne Evangelista, Chemist, City of Highland Park

Marianne Evangelista joined The City of Highland Park in 2007 as the Water Treatment Plant’s Chemist.  The Highland Park WTP is a 30 MGD rated surface water treatment plant that serves 60,000 customers.  Her work focuses on managing an Illinois Department of Public Health certified microbiology laboratory where she performs water quality testing to advise Water Operators on chemical dosing for drinking water treatment.  In addition to the chemist duties, Marianne also oversees the City’s Cross Connection Control Program and performs many duties such as reports, billing, website updates, public relations and research needed to optimize the Water Plant.  Prior to joining Highland Park, Marianne was a laboratory supervisor and project manager in the private sector of environmental laboratories.  She has a bachelor’s degree from The University of Illinois at Chicago with a major in biology and a minor in chemistry.  She currently has a Class A Public Water Supply Operator certification.

 Registration begins at 7:30am. The training will start at 8:00am and will conclude by 12:00pm.  Earn up to 4 Professional Development Hours (PDH's) for engineers or Renewal Training Credit (RTC) hours for water operators. Continental breakfast is included.
