The GIS Consortium (GISC) was formed in 1999 as a means for local
governments to collaborate and share costs to create innovative GIS
solutions to everyday challenges. Collaborative models like that of the
Consortium are becoming more and more attractive given the current
economic climate. Tom Thomey founder of MGP and architect behind the
formation of the GIS Consortium will be discussing its history,
evolution and the benefits that occur when local governments collaborate
to create strategic public-private partnerships.
