SUMMARY: Industrial networks
have become victim to a number of high profile hacking activities recently.
Electrical utilities have developed standards/regulation to address
cyber-security through the NERC/CIP standards and its likely water and
wastewater infrastructure will soon need to follow suit. This seminar aims to
provide an informative session on the various network hacking techniques often
used (one will be demonstrated live) to provide awareness of the problem and
then offering up effective solutions to deter such events.
Matt Cowell is an Automation Sales
Engineer for Phoenix Contact out of Chicago, IL. Since graduating as a
bachelor of Engineering out of the University of Brighton in the UK, he
has developed a background of embedded product development and systems
integration for various industries accumulating in 10+ years of
experience. Matt has particular interest and expertise in industrial
networking and SCADA and has completed the Control Systems Security
Program hosted by the Department of Homeland Security in Idaho.
