SUMMARY: In 2012, the Wilmette Water Plant embarked on an ambitious program to replace the SCADA system's aging Square-D PLCs with new PLC's utilizing a Modicon/Modbus architecture The upgrade also converted much of the process control from centralized to distributed. This paper is the story of how this conversion was accomplished while maintaining the treatment processes 24/7 and meeting all State and Federal regulatory requirements

Work Experience
City of Chicago – April 1971 to June 1980
• Started his career in water at the Jardine Water Purification Plant as a Chemist in 1971, promoted to Filtration Engineer in 1976, working as an Operator in a control room setting.
Village of Wilmette – June 1980 to July 2010
• Served as the Village’s Water Plant Superintendent . Was responsible for the planning, operation, maintenance, and inspection of the water pumping and treatment plant, personnel, facilities, and equipment for the Village of Wilmette.
Stanley Consultants -- April 2011 to Present
• Technical Advisor – Assist Stanley with technical issues on water treatment projects and provide water marketing services in the Chicagoland area.
