Pilot Study Results from a Demonstration of a Direct Drive High Speed Turbo Blower at the City of Plano Water Reclamation Facility
The City of Plano owns and operates a 2.44 MGD biological nutrient removal treatment facility. The plant is gravity fed from intercepting sewers. The largest power consumption is by the four 150 HP multi-stage centrifugal blowers which were installed in 2004. Control of the centrifugal blower output is achieved by throttling the motorized suction valve on the inlet to the blower. The City has initiated a pilot study of a direct drive high speed turbo blower and is measuring power consumption in an effort to determine the potential payback. The results of the pilot study will be presented.
