Implementing Environmental Considerations in a Plant Upgrade: A Case Study
The Village of Plainfield, Illinois, actively pursues environmental quality through efforts such as the Green Village program and the Riverfront corridor plan. In line with this ethic, the Village took the opportunity to implement a variety of environmentally beneficial features during a recent WWTP upgrade. Energy conservation measures, resource reuse, and riparian corridor improvement were all implemented in the upgrade. This presentation will highlight these features.

Brent W. Perz, P.E. - Baxter & Woodman, Inc.
Brent Perz graduated with a B.S. in Civil Environmental Engineering from Iowa State University in 2004. He joined Baxter & Woodman as an intern in 2001 and has worked full time since 2005. Brent is a Registered Professional Engineer for the State of Illinois. Brent is an active member in the American Water Works Association, Water Environmental Federation and the Fox Valley Operators Association. Brent serves as wastewater engineer and project manager at Baxter & Woodman, Inc. His past projects included planning and design, including wastewater treatment plants, water modeling, storm sewer installation, sanitary sewer modeling, sanitary sewer flow metering, sanitary sewer replacements, force mains, and bike paths. He has also provided construction engineering services and field inspection for streetscape enhancements, water mains, street rehabilitation and reconstruction projects, and subdivision developments.
Jeffrey D. Mohler, P.E., BCEE - Baxter & Woodman, Inc.
Jeffrey Mohler has been in the water and wastewater field for over 40 years. He is currently a Senior Project Manager with Baxter & Woodman, Inc., consulting engineers, and has been with the company for the last 35 years. Prior to that, Jeffrey was employed by the Urbana Champaign Sanitary District and Lake County Public Works as a wastewater treatment plant operator. Jeffrey is a registered professional engineer in Illinois and other states, a Board Certified Environmental Engineer, and also holds a Class 1 Wastewater Operator certification in Illinois. Jeffrey’s professional interests include wastewater planning and design and sustainability.
