Complete SCADA System Replacement: Where Do We Go From Here?
The City of Chicago Department of Water Management recently completed a large-scale SCADA upgrade project encompassing their Pumping Station and Distribution systems and is currently planning and addressing equipment and software "End of Life-Cycle" issues associated with the water treatment SCADA systems. In order to address the challenges associated with managing, maintaining, and improving their SCADA systems, the Department teamed with Westin to develop a Master Plan for the next phase of the SCADA systems life-cycle. This presentation will cover the complexity of the Pumping Station and Distribution systems project including challenges and lessons learned. Furthermore, the presentation will discuss the reasons for developing a SCADA System Master Plan, the key business and operational imperatives that are addressed, and the process utilized to determine what, how and where precious dollars are spent aligning technology with the Department's business requirements.
