Biological Treatment Sequencing Batch Reactors (SBRs) - Chemical Analysis and Monitoring of System Performance During Start-Up and Normal Operations

This is an introduction to the various wastewater biological treatment systems, including SBR technology, which since it was first introduced has gradually gained more acceptability among municipal and industrial biological wastewater applications. This presentation includes a general presentation on biological wastewater treatment including SBRs together with a description of an example application of a SBR system start-up, normal stable operation and shut-down phase. The presentation "walks" the audience through the multiple operations performed at a single vessel.

Eduardo Gasca PE - Burns & McDonnell Engineering Co.

Mr. Gasca serves as Senior Environmental Engineer with more than 23 years of Environmental Engineering and consulting experience. His areas of expertise are design and implementation of water, wastewater and groundwater treatment, water systems and federal facilities security vulnerability assessments and emergency response plans; environmental remediation systems; multimedia environmental compliance;  monitoring and modeling of pollutants; site investigations under CERCLA and RCRA; and environmental support under the DOD BRAC program.

Randy Patchett PE - Burns & McDonnell Engineering Co.

Randy Patchett is the Regional Water Global Practice Manager for the Burns & McDonnell Chicago and Downers Grove, Illinois offices.  Randy is a senior civil with extensive experience providing consulting engineering services on wastewater treatment and collection system projects for municipal, industrial and federal clients.  His responsibilities have included  include developing and managing projects involving a wide range of services in the areas of wastewater including  studies, modeling, master planning, design and construction management.
