Advanced Maintenance Flushing for Improving Water Quality in Distribution Systems
The technical presentation to be delivered at the Illinois AWWA Conference will describe Advanced Maintenance Flushing, an alternative method to unidirectional flushing. Advanced Maintenance Flushing was introduced more than 13 years ago as an economical alternative to traditional flushing processes in an effort to bring automation to the process, thus benefiting those implementing the technique both economically and through the conservation of natural resources. Advanced Maintenance Flushing minimizes disinfectant residual conditions in water distribution systems by providing periodic flushing on a consistent and regulated basis in order to maintain the water quality in the distribution system between flushing events.
