The USEPA ATP Process for Approval of Colilert-18 for Fecal Coliforms in Waste Water and What is a Number: Comparison of MPN and CFU
1. Review the requirements of the ATP (40CFR136.3) to evaluate a new method. Discuss the protocol for testing the new method against the Standard Method (m-FC, SM 9222D). Overview of the statistical analysis between the methods: recoveries, variation between methods, false positives and false negatives. Comments and conclusions of the study. 2. What is a Number: Review of the history of MPN (most probale number), simple understanding of how the MPN is calculated and how does it compared to CFU (colony forming units).
