Measurement and Control of Hexavalent Chromium in Drinking Water
Hexavalent chromium or Cr (VI) has become a current drinking water quality issue because of its growing health concern and widespread occurrence. This presentation will describe how to improve ion chromatography/post-column reaction methods for the analysis of Cr (VI) with a focus on optimizing sample preservation and holding time. It will discuss the formation of Cr (VI) from Cr (III) in drinking water using chlorine and chloramines as the disinfectants. The results will be very significant for studying and controlling Cr (VI) in various raw and finished drinking waters.
