Utilizing Ultraviolet Disinfection in Drinking Water Facilities
In November 2006, the United States Environmental Protection Agency released the Ultraviolet Disinfection Guidance Manual for the Final Long Term 2 Enhanced Surface Water Treatment Rule (http://www.epa.gov/ogwdw000/disinfection/lt2/pdfs/guide_lt2_uvguidance.pdf). This document (UVDGM) was generated to provide technical information on how UV should be applied for disinfection of public water systems. It is important to note that it is not a regulation just guidance on how to implement UV. The presentation will cover UV101, equipment selection, installation requirements, maintenance items, validation requirements, and a regulatory summary.
