Using the Source Water Protection Operational Guide to AWWA Standard G300
The Source Water Protection Operational Guide to AWWA Standard G300 contains a number of worksheets for utility and watershed management staff to evaluate the completeness of their plan with regard to the six essential SWP program elements. This paper will step through these elements: (1) a SWP protection program vision; (2) source water characterization; (3) SWP goals; (4) a SWP action plan; (5) implementation of the action plan; and (6) periodic evaluation and revision of the program and their associated worksheets. This paper will also discuss AWWA's current program for self-assessment to gain recognition for a SWP program that meets the American National Standards Institute (ANSI)/American Water Works Association (AWWA) Utility Management Standard G300 for Source Water Protection.
