MITCHELL W. BERG, 59 MACHESNEY PARK -

Mitchell W. Berg, 59 of Machesney Park passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2015, at his home, surrounded by loved ones. Born November 19, 1955, in Soudan, Minnesota to Russell and Theresa (Pavlich) Berg. Married Nancy Foor on July 8, 1978, in Rockford, IL. Mitch lived a life that was rich and full. He blessed so many with his wisdom, humor and love and the blessings were returned tenfold. Mitch was a devoted family man, proud and supportive of his wife and children. He loved to spend Saturdays with his granddaughter, Anna. A man of integrity, quiet wisdom and endless good humor, he always put the needs of others above his own. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed fishing and treasured time spent at Eagle's Nest Lake 3 with family and friends. Mitch was a loyal fan of the Chicago Cubs and Minnesota Vikings and tolerated the associated disappointments with customary grace. Mitch's lifelong work was in the water treatment industry and he was a mentor to many colleagues and customers. He was an independent business owner of Smith Ecological Systems for most of his career and also President of Woodlawn Utilities. He was a former officer of Elks Lodge 64. Survived by wife, Nancy; parents, Russell and Theresa (Pavlich) Berg; son, Benjamin (Rachel) Berg; daughter, Samantha Berg; sister, Michele (Berg) Cascarano; brother, Daniel (Catherine) Berg; granddaughter, Anna Marie; brothers-in-law, Stephen Foor and David (Kimberly) Foor; and sisters-in-law, Janis Foor and Susan (Patrick) Kelly; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and great-niece and nephews and dear friends.
