Village of Downers Grove - Question from a Member

"A small, independent water system exists within the Village of Downers Grove. This system's water source is a well and it currently serves approximately 15 homes. The system is aging, and the customers currently on this system are concerned about its ongoing viability. There is some interest in connecting to the Village's water supply, and there is Village water main available to all of the homes.

Residents have expressed concern about the cost involved in making the connection to the Village water supply and are asking about financial assistance. Is anyone aware of grants or loans that an individual homeowner or small system operator could use to connect to Village water? The remaining customers of this independent system may also be facing the costs associated with properly shutting down their well."

Please respond directly to Stan at  sbalicki@downers.us

Sincerely,

Stan Balicki

I'd recommend checking with USDA Rural Water program. They may be able to provide funding and/or loans for people wanting to connect: https://www.rd.usda.gov/about-rd/agencies/rural-utilities-service It's a place to start anyhow! Linda Hutchins
