Consider joining the new ISAWWA Mentoring committee.  It was determined at the 2017 ISAWWA strategic planning session that building a sustainable and thriving mentoring program is one of the ISAWWA’s top priorities over the next few years.  The EPA estimates that over the next 10 years, 37% of water utility workers and 31% of wastewater utility workers will retire.  As an industry, we have much work to do in recruiting, retaining, and building the workforce that will replace these retirees.   Mentoring is a great tool for passing knowledge from seasoned professionals to those newer to the industry, and that is exactly why we are seeking to build a mentoring program as one tool that we can use from our tool box for building a sustainable industry future.  We are currently looking for ISAWWA members interested in getting their hands dirty to help build the foundation and structure of our new mentoring program.  Committee members will plan the mentoring program details and activities and take on program projects necessary to launching, administering, and maintaining the program.  Please email Brianna Huber at bhuber@eastmoline.com if you are interested in joining the committee.

In a few short months, we will be looking for program mentors and mentees, so please keep an eye out for future emails if you are interested in having a mentor or being a mentor!  You can also let us know if you are interested by  updating your ISAWWA member profile on the ISAWWA website indicating that you are interested in being mentored or being a mentor.
