AWWA - Directors Duties
Fall - Process for nomination - Section election in the fall.
January - Winter Board meeting - Newly elected director would goes to January Board meeting as guest as current sitting director. The Illinois Section pays for travel for guest incoming director travel. This trip is optional and suggested.
At the winter board meeting they will sit with other incoming directors and learn procedures and how the meetings are formatted.
June - ACE -
- Attend meeting on Saturday prior to ACE. In the morning there is a first year directors welcome meeting.
- Regular meeting starts late morning Saturday. The Board meeting convenes on Sunday and is anticipated to be all day.
- The Section does not cover ACE travel as it is assumed that an involved Board member would be attending ACE whether they were a Director. If you are required to come earlier than normal practice for you, the Section will cover the extra day hotel.
July - There is a day and one half new director orientation at headquarters. AWWA pays for this event travel. This backs up to the summer workshop to allow participants to stay for the summer workshop.
Winter Board Meeting - normally on a Saturday - Sunday. Meeting starts on Saturday morning and concludes on Sunday afternoon. AWWA pays for the travel expenses for the winter board meeting.
Webinars - there are webinars a couple of weeks prior to Board meetings.
Conference calls - there may be conference calls.
Additional activities - you can volunteer to be on a committee and it is encouraged. You are not required to be on additional committees.
