Get a Career in WATER! Become Part of the OPERATOR IN TRAINING PROGRAM!
The Illinois Section AWWA, along with the North Chicago Community High School, City of North Chicago and Darrell A King are partnering to offer an opportunity to high school students for a career in the water industry. The recommended course that qualifies for the scholarship program offered by the Illinois Section AWWA and fill the requirement for basic knowledge is:
#3003 Water Distribution Systems Online Course
This course will assist the student in preparing for the IEPA Class D Operator exam. Successful completion of the #3003 Course will earn the student 3 months credit towards the 6 month hands-on experience requirement.
Receive a rebate upon completion of the course
In order for the student to receive 100% rebate of the cost of the course and books, they would need to obtain a passing grade (70% on IEPA administered exam) and provide a letter confirming that they have arranged for a hands-on internship at a local utility.
If they have not coordinated the hands on internship, they would be eligible for 50% rebate with a passing grade (70% on the IEPA administered exam).
If they obtain an internship/work study program at a utility within 12 months of passing the official IEPA certification exam, the balance of the tuition will be refunded to them.
Student Related Fees
Membership to Illinois Section American Water Works Association (ISAWWA)
No cost to the student: membership fee will be paid by the sponsor/mentor/association
The #3003 Water Distribution Systems Online Course will assist the student in preparing for the IEPA Class D Operator exam
$224.00 plus $65.00 for textbook
ISAWWA will cover the shipping and handling of the textbook
Total Cost for Self –Study Program : $289.00
