|E-Splash June 2013 - Water Distribution|
Our Water Distribution Committee members continue to be active, involved and imaginative for the Illinois Section. I am very fortunate to be the Chair of a great group of dedicated water professionals who also like to have fun.
2013 WATERCON Conference
Many of our Committee members attended, presented, competed and volunteered their time at the WATERCON conference. Like last year, the "Bozo” game was at the Water Distribution Committee booth. There were prizes for the contestant who could put a bean bag or two into the pipes. After all, everyone likes to play bean bags. I want to thank all the Committee members who donated their time to man the booth as well as all the vendors who donated prizes.
There was something new at our booth this year. As described in the previous SPLASH issue, our Committee sponsored a Water Tower Photo Contest and the top twelve vote getters earned a place on the first Water Distribution Committee calendar. All WATERCON attendees were given a ballot with their registration package, and they casted their vote among 46 photo entries submitted by water utilities throughout the Illinois Section that were displayed at our booth.
The Village of Carpentersville was the top vote getter, and the other eleven utilities that earned their place on our calendar were:
TANKS to all the utilities that submitted a photo.
Also, I would like to acknowledge the gold and silver sponsors that helped reduce the cost of our calendar:
6th Annual Water Distribution Conference
Our Conference was held in Countryside, IL on April 23rd. I have big news! This popular conference broke an attendance record! WE HAD TWO HUNDRED AND TWENTY THREE ATTENDEES! UNBELIEVABLE! (Good thing Lisa ordered extra food.) All attendees received a copy of our calendar, as well as valuable CEU credit hours.
The presentations were excellent, and I would like to acknowledge the following presenters for making our technical program so successful:
Also, I would like to acknowledge all the exhibitors who contributed to the conference’s success:
I am very appreciative of all the time and effort that our Committee members give to our various Committee activities throughout the year. TANKS to all!
I am also very appreciative for all the help from my Vice-Chair Scott Bernholdt. TANKS Scott!
Last but not least, I am very appreciative and very fortunate to have the help of Lisa Hoffhines. She is so organized that she makes everything look easy, and she is the big reason why we broke the attendance record this year. I’m sure that I speak for everyone on our Committee by wishing Lisa and her husband Casey best wishes and prayers for a happy and healthy baby along with some advice … get your rest now. TANKS Lisa!
Best wishes to all ISAWWA members and their families for a happy and safe summer.
