WATERCON 2013 was an awesome event!
Record attendance for the conference led to a very busy
exhibit hall. Following the Grand
Opening we had an art show, a large projection screen where attendees could
have their picture taken in front of interesting locales, Top Ops, a Meet ‘N
Greet and a 50-50 raffle. And that was
just in the first five hours on Day 1.
Our expanded exhibit hall hours, which covered three days,
seemed to be well accepted. We plan to
repeat this schedule at WATERCON 2014 with one small change. The Grand Opening will be at 2:00, one hour
later than this year, to enable exhibitors from the Chicago and St. Louis areas
an extra hour if they choose to drive down on Monday morning. However, please note that ALL items must be
moved in and all booths must be fully set up by 1:00, one hour prior to the
We’re making a few other changes for 2014, the most notable
being that we will have one booth rate for all booths regardless of whether
they are inside the main hall or in one of the lobbies. We will also be looking at ways to increase
traffic throughout the exhibit hall. We
have created a sub-committee whose sole responsibility is to brainstorm ideas
to accomplish this task.
The MAC Committee, which currently has 20 members from the
entire spectrum of the water and wastewater industry, including operators,
service providers and manufacturers’ reps, is working very hard to continue to
make Watercon the premiere water and wastewater conference in the Midwest. We encourage feedback and suggestions and are
more than willing to discuss our plan for this event. Please feel free to contact me or any member
of the MAC Committee. You can find the
list of all committee members on the Section website at ISAWWA.org.
