Illinois Section AWWA - E-Splash - November 2013
Mike Eisenhauer, Chair
The Backflow Committee is dedicated to helping each
and every water system in Illinois plan, develop, enact, implement, and enforce
an effective cross-connection control program. The regulations that outline all
water systems requirements to adopt and administer a cross-connection control
program have been virtually unchanged for almost 35 years. What once may have
seemed like a monumental undertaking to actually start a comprehensive backflow
program today can be accomplished with only a minor investment on the part of
the water system. Knowledge, expertise, experience, and technical advancements
gained over the last 35 years have made it almost a no brainer for all water
systems to effectively administer their backflow program and to help ensure a
safe and adequate potable water supply for their consumers. The members of the
ISAWWA Backflow Committee are some of the most experienced and knowledgeable
cross-connection control experts in the country and are ready to help. All you need to do is ask. As we come to the
close of another year, now is the time to take a serious look at your current
cross-connection and backflow prevention program and ask yourself whether your
program has done and is doing all of the elements necessary to ensure that safe
and adequate water supply to all of your customers. If your answer is yes, then
congratulations to you for doing the right thing; and if your answer is no,
then please contact the ISAWWA Backflow Committee and we will provide whatever
assistance is within our power to provide.
