Presenter: David Van Wy has 25 years in the Damage Prevention industry. He started out as a facility locator contracted by numerous major utility companies which lead to his providing training to other locate technicians and managers in seven states. With just over 16 years in his current position as a Damage Prevention Manager in Northern Illinois with JULIE, Inc., David has the opportunity to work with and educate facility owners, excavators and the general public on damage prevention and excavation safety when working around buried facilities.

David is the President of the NE IL Chapter of the Common Ground Alliance, and serves as the Utility Chairman on the Safety / Risk Management / Utility Committee for the Illinois Underground Contractors Association. David also participates in the Greater Chicagoland Damage Prevention Council.

Prior to getting involved in the Damage Prevention industry David spent 12 years in the United States Marine Corps working in disciplines ranging from basic radio operation to the assembly and inspection of Tactical Nuclear Weapons.
