Summary:  The very nature of buried pipeline assets presents a challenge to accurately assess their condition, making it even harder to optimize

water/wastewater systems by employing effective asset management strategies. To optimize pipeline renewal strategies based on actual conditions, new pipeline condition assessment techniques and technologies offer pipe specific evaluations that can end the water industry’s reliance on desktop studies using age, or break frequency, as the primary criteria for pipeline renewal planning. This presentation will focus on holistic asset management strategies for water systems, challenging traditional methodologies
