LEAD SERVICE LINE FORUM

TOPIC: This VIRTUAL seminar will provide attendees with helpful insights and case studies related to lead service lines.  The speakers will be discussing how communities can plan for water main replacement projects; funding lead service line replacements utilizing IEPA Low Interest Loans; how to perform a system lead service line inventory; describe lead service line replacement projects; and repair ordinance development, including issues related to private property; public notice requirements and policies related to planned water main replacement projects and system emergency repairs; lead testing protocols and procedures; private property access agreements and suggested public involvement in lead service line issues.  The science and health effects of lead will also be discussed along with proper water treatment corrosion control practices to help prevent leaching of lead into drinking water. New, or proposed, IEPA/IDPH legislative issues related to lead service line repairs and replacements will be reviewed. Finally, as time allows, the panel of speakers will be taking questions from attendees to assist Section members with the nuances of lead service line repair and replacement, and best practices, as related to the lead service line regulations.
