SUMMARY:  Cleaning is an essential element of collection system operations and maintenance programs. Yet, the question arises, is there a way to reduce operations costs, slow asset degradation and lower risks to municipal personnel while preserving or even lowering threats of SSOs? Real-time monitoring can provide continuous feedback at each site/basin and utilities can now clean as the monitor indicates, eliminating exaggerated cleaning practices and reducing frequency/costs.

Jay is the Director of Market Development for ADS Environmental Services. He has 39-plus-years’ experience developing technology solutions to drive process optimization and bring dozens of technologies to markets serving municipal and industrial industries. He has a bachelor’s degree in Biology and has done extensive graduate studies in business, business development, and technology development. He has earned a number of certifications including an Instructor Certification with Dale Carnegie® training.

Jay has published dozens of papers and technical articles in leading North American journals including WE&T, Municipal Water & Sewer (MSW), Water & Wastes Digest, WaterWorld, Pumps & Systems, Clear Waters (New York) and the Florida Water Resources Journal. He has written on subjects including Cleaning Optimization, I&I Assessment, Technology-Based SSO Mitigation, Advanced Odor Control Techniques in Collection Systems, and Internet of Things in Wastewater. He is a regular speaker at national, state and local conferences on these subjects.
Jay is a member of the Water Environment Federation (WEF) and the California Water Environment Association (CWEA). Currently, he serves on the WEF Intelligent Water Technology Committee (IWT).  He is an active participant in charitable associations with the primary focus on providing meals and support to impoverished and indigent persons in Mexico and the US.
