Cybersecurity protection has become a business imperative for organizations across many industries. Regardless of the level of support, budgets, and priorities understanding a pragmatic approach in an evolving landscape may save a company’s Industrial Control System. This presentation will briefly discuss how to prepare your organization by realizing your cybersecurity readiness, creating a roadmap, and implementing a model to stimulate continuous improvement.  



PRESENTERS:Patrick O'Brien, exidaCSP

Patrick O’Brien is a Safety and Cybersecurity engineer at exida LLC. He works directly with end user industrial facilities to improve the overall safety and security of their operations through the application of the functional safety and cybersecurity lifecycles. Key activities include leading gap assessments, HAZOPs, cybersecurity risk assessment, CHAZOP, SIL determination, and SIL verification for oil and gas, chemical, machinery, and robotic applications.
Patrick co-authored one of the first books on Industrial Cybersecurity, Implementing IEC 62443- A Pragmatic Approach to Cybersecurity. In addition, he has developed a number of cybersecurity training courses and parts of the Certified Automation Cybersecurity Expert (CACE) exam and worked closely with the product team on the development of exSILentia Cyber software.
He graduated from the Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in German Language and Culture with an International Engineering Certificate.
