Ductile Iron and PVC Pressure Pipe/Fitting, Assembly and Restraint
This presentation will first discuss current pipe and fitting standards as written by AWWA and ASTM including the new standard for C-900 pipe.  Installation procedures detailed by these standards as well as recommendations by the manufacturers trade associations will be presented with an emphasis on what is practical to accomplish in the field and what may present a challenge.  Pipe joint restraint methods including thrust blocks, threaded rod, pipe company built in restraint and third party wedge action restrainers will be discussed highlighting the strengths and limitations of each.  Practical  advice for installing and restraining other types of pipe connections such as cast couplings, differing pipe materials, flange adapters and expansion joints will be presented. Software utilized to determine restrained lengths will be demonstrated and distributed. This presentation is recommended for both the seasoned veteran waterworks professional as well as the newest member of the team. 

Stop Living With Your Water Main Breaks and Start to Be Curious About Them
This presentation will first discuss the effects of water hammer on your system and how reduce your annual water main breaks by considering the variables leading to them.  There are many factors that contribute to the failure of your system in certain areas.  Instead of living with your main breaks as a fact of life, start wondering about them and why they are happening.  Additionally, there are a broad range of unusual fabricated fittings to help with you’re the repair of your pipe failures.  Just because it’s not in the catalog, doesn’t mean it can’t be made.  You’re invited to come listen to some catastrophic failure stories and how the problems were solved.
