High Tech Operator Course 3:  Data Management

SUMMARY: This course provides an overview of the technologies available for managing information about assets and process performance. It begins with a look at systems used to capture, display, and evaluate performance data. Participants will learn about the tools used to manage and deliver data, as well as technologies for sharing data between systems. After completing this course, participants will be able to
▶ Describe the applications available for collecting performance data
▶ Explain methods for managing and reporting performance
▶ Present an overview of the functions of a document management system
▶ Discuss the components of a network and the difference between different types of networks and the Internet
▶ Describe the technologies available for providing information security

No Course Prerequisites required: All three courses must be completed to obtain the High-Tech Operator certificate; Classes can be taken in ANY order.

PRESENTER:  Harry Harman, Baxter & Woodman
Harry joined AWWA in 1975 and graduated from Purdue University in 1977 with a BS degree in Civil Engineering with a major in Environmental Engineering.

He joined Baxter & Woodman, Inc., consulting Engineers in 1983 after working for the State of Indiana permitting water treatment plants and training Water Treatment Plant Operators, and for the second largest Investor Owned Water Company in Indiana as Assistant Supervisor of Operations.

He is a Senior Environmental Engineer and Senior Project Manager for Baxter & Woodman, Inc. He has designed ver 100 water treatment plants, elevated and ground storage tanks, water pumping stations, as well as pressure adjusting and regulating stations for communities throughout southeastern Wisconsin, Northern Illinois and northwestern Indiana.

Several of his projects have received awards for engineering excellence from ACEC,CECI, and the APWA. He has presented several papers at National AWWA Conferences as well as Wisconsin, Indiana, and Illinois Section Conferences.

REGISTRATION & HOURS;
Registration begins at 7:30am. The training will start at 8:00am and will conclude by 3:00pm each day. Earn up to 12 PDH’s or RTC hours. Breakfast and lunch included.
