CEU TYPE: Technical

IDEM#: PWST16-5648

Most of the harmful algae blooms in surface water throughout the world are due to cyanobacteria which include species that can produce toxins that are broadly called cyanotoxins. In 2015, the U.S. EPAissued a health advisory in drinking water for two of the more common hepatotoxins, mcrocystins and cylindrospermopsin.Children are at greater risk because of their smaller bodymass. The webinar is intended to provide approaches and examples forsource water monitoring, risk assessment, response protocols and management options for harmful algae blooms and associated cyanotoxins.Botha historicalbackground and an overview of rapid test methods will be presented along withthe importance of sample collection, preparation, treatment, storage and transporation.

On the heels of that success, Dave identified means to improve milk production with a rapid bovine pregnancy test. He credits his good fortune to his early mentors who recognized his ability to be a visionary contributor in the fast paced biotechnology industry.
