A one day training program aimed at supplying useful tools for the New and Upcoming Leader in the drinking water profession.  The goal is to impart a working knowledge of the major role leadership has in promoting better public health while ensuring regulatory compliance. There is a constant increase in the number of variables involved to provide potable drinking water, some of which are:

A public health science which continues to improve
The need to increase utility rates
Aging infrastructure repair & replacement

§  More costly treatment to stay in compliance

§  The need to promote the real value and cost of drinking water to the public

·   The Drought - a dwindling source of supply – a new reality for the west

·  A more sophisticated utility customer - wanting answers to tough questions of   ever increasing complexity


The New and Upcoming Utility Leaders of today and in the future will need all the tools available to them to do their jobs.  This program will address many complex issues and supply common sense tools for staying on top of the key issues hitting them on a daily basis, some of which are:


·The basics of good leadership principles,

·The role of leadership in promoting better public health for customers while at the same time ensuring their utility stays in regulatory compliance,

·How to deal with the future impacts of new contaminants,

·A way to bring to the forefront the true value and real cost of drinking water,

·How to effectively communicate these complex regulatory developments and issues to customers.
