The Nominating Committees for the Illinois Section of the American Water Works Association (ISAWWA) is seeking nominations for individuals with leadership and management experience to serve on the 2016-2017 Illinois Section AWWA Board.

Members of the Board provide leadership, a shared vision and sense of mission and are responsible for the fiscal health of our organization.We are looking for leaders with:

  • proven performance and a commitment to the organization
  • time and ability to serve
  • understanding of team work;communication and mentoring skills
  • sound judgment and integrity
  • enthusiasm and the ability to be a strategic, visionary thinker

The Illinois Section AWWA (ISAWWA) Board as a whole has consistent focus on ISAWWA long term impacts, results, purposes, and opportunities that serve the needs of members and the profession.Officers embody excellence through a disciplined approach, adhering to the highest standard of ethical conduct in all aspects of guidance, decision-making, and leadership of the association. Officers play a key resource role in ensuring the policies, procedures, and communications reflect and support ISAWWA’s vision and mission. Nominees should be open to collective decsion making after encouraging and considering diverse viewpoints and experience evaluating and impacting organizational performance in terms of measurable strategic results. Nominees should clearly understand the distinction and have respect for both board, volunteer,and management roles. The average time commitment per board member is a approximately three hours per week. The Board utilizes technology to conduct regular business meetings, with a minimum of one 60 minute all-committee Board and Committee Chair teleconference per month. In addition the Board meets face-to-face three times per year, once during the ISAWWA Conference and again at another time determined by the Board. ISAWWA does not support travel expenses for official board business meetings. ISAWWA encourages Board members to attend nationally sponsored events such as the Regional Officers Meeting, Summer Workshop and Membership Summit. Travel to nationally sponsored events other than ACE is supported by ISAWWA on a limited basis.
