Illinois Section AWWA - E-Splash -  June 2013

We Are Listening! Member Feedback is Invaluable
Lisa Hoffhines, Education

Illinois Section AWWA thrives off its members and volunteers. We would not be able to provide the low cost and extensive training programs we do without the help and knowledge of our volunteer presenters and utility hosts. In order to continue to meet our members’ training needs, we must hear your thoughts, ideas and feedback. We value your opinions and want to know what you think we are doing right, what we should do differently, and how we can best serve you in the future.

We are listening! As a result of the seminar and webinar surveys, we have listened to your feedback and made some changes to better meet your needs.

The members want printed certificates
Beginning 2013, Illinois Section AWWA stopped issuing printed "certificates of attendance” at in-person seminars. The reason for this was because Illinois EPA does not require printed certificates when operators submit their renewal training credit hours. Illinois EPA additionally now has an online database where operators can enter class IEPA#’s in order to receive their renewal training credit hours, which doesn’t require any paperwork at all. A third reason we stopped issuing paper certificates was due to the fact that when attendees log into the Illinois Section AWWA website, , a simple print-out of the "Certifications” page, under "Manage Profile”, provides the same information as a "certificate of attendance”. With all of that being said, the message was still clear: the operators want to walk away from seminars with a printed "certificate of attendance”.

As of May 1, 2013, Illinois Section AWWA will again issue printed "certificates of attendance” to all pre-registered seminar attendees. We will additionally provide a printable "certificate of attendance” for both live and archived webinar registrants.

Please note that in order to receive a printable certificate of attendance for:

- Seminars: you MUST pre-register 48 hours in advance of the event

- Live Webinars: you MUST complete a webinar survey. Upon survey completion, you will receive a one-time printable "certificate of attendance” screen.

- Archived Webinars: you MUST pass and complete a 5-question quiz. Upon quiz completion, you will receive a one-time printable "certificate of attendance” screen.

There are some exceptions. For larger conferences with multiple tracks going on simultaneously, such as "WATERCON” and "T-CON: The Midwest Water and Wastewater Technology Conference”, Illinois Section AWWA will not be able to provide printable certificates onsite. There is no way for us to know which and how many hours of sessions you attended without you filling out a survey for each session. In these cases, a printout of your "Certifications” page on your Illinois Section AWWA training record is encouraged. However, should you require a printable, "Certificate of Attendance” you can contact our office and we will be happy to assist you in your request.

We appreciate our members’ feedback and encourage you to continue to share your thoughts with us at
