Mission Statement

Water is the most precious resource on Earth. A fundamental part of keeping our water safe to drink is preventing it from becoming contaminated in the first place. The Source Water Protection Committee provides water utilities with the tools and resources to protect their water sources, now and in the future.

What We Do

• Provide technical resources to ISAWWA members on our webpage and through educational events such as webcasts and in-person seminars

• Communicate the latest developments in drinking water quality and source water protection to ISAWWA members on a regular basis

• Help water utilities engage elected officials and the general public to protect drinking water resources

• Collaborate with other organizations to hold public outreach and educational events, and remain current on developments in source water protection

Get Involved

Source Water Protection Committee activities provide insight into current concerns, scientific advances, and regulatory developments with respect to water quality and source water protection. Participation will also help you network with water professionals from around the state and learn from their first-hand experiences with source water protection programs.

Online Resources

Pollutants carried by stormwater and contained in the wastes we discharge to the sewers can end up in our drinking water supplies. The Source Water Protection Committee has assembled a catalog of online resources to help utilities communicate with customers about protecting their watershed by keeping pollutants out of stormwater and wastewater.
