EPA announced the latest round of $7.5 billion in Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (WIFIA) program funding. There is $6.5 billion available through WIFIA loans to water systems and another $1 billion available to states. Letters of interest (LOIs) from prospective borrowers submitted on or after Oct. 1, 2024, will be reviewed using the scoring criteria outlined in the Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA).
For systems pursuing WIFIA funding for lead service line replacement, “WIFIA-funded projects involving lead service line replacement should include a plan to conduct full lead service line replacement.”
Prospective borrowers should submit all LOIs electronically via EPA’s secure SharePoint site. Contact wifia@epa.gov to request a link to the SharePoint site. Guidance for applications is available at the WIFIA program website.
