ISAWWA Mentoring Program Details

Our mission:

To promote personal and professional growth by cultivating a supportive environment in which to share knowledge, experience and advice with water professionals in all aspects and levels of water to the benefit of the water industry as a whole.

What is mentoring?

Pairing water professionals in a mentoring relationship to support and foster personal and professional growth.

What type of mentoring is offered?

     1: Traditional one-on-one mentoring:

  • One mentee and one mentor establish and maintain a longer term (suggested minimum 12 months) mentoring relationship.
  • Focus is on the person (mentee), their career, and support for individual growth and maturity.  The mentee may learn how to plan their career path, improve in public speaking, navigate tricky professional situations, achieve their professional goals, etc.

    2: Coaching:

  • One mentor can work with one or a small group of mentees for a short-term mentoring relationship, such as a one-time coaching session, or four coaching sessions over a one-month period.
  • Focus of this type of mentoring relationship is on learning how to complete a task, such as learning how to build a screen in a SCADA system, how to calibrate a UVT meter, or how to install a new flow meter.
