“The Illinois EPA intends to collaborate with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) on a $1 million pilot program in FY2027 to conduct water use assessments at water facilities across the state. Supported by Drinking Water loan support funds, the program will help systems evaluate efficiency, identify water loss, and develop strategies to optimize usage. Funding may also be used to implement targeted solutions identified through these assessments. Depending on participation and results, the Agency may allocate additional funding in FY2028 or roll over unspent FY2027 funds to continue the initiative.”
