Youth Outreach Committee

Who We Are

The Youth Outreach Committee is a group of members who are passionate about inspiring curiosity and building early awareness of the water industry. Committee members include water professionals, educators, outreach leaders, and industry partners who want to support youth education and create positive, memorable experiences that connect students to water and environmental stewardship.

WHAT WE DO

This committee develops and supports programs that educate and engage K–8 students through interactive learning and community outreach. The committee creates and shares classroom-friendly tools, visual resources that explain the water cycle and water systems, and hands-on demonstrations that make water science fun and accessible for younger audiences. We also build partnerships with schools, libraries, and community organizations to expand engagement opportunities and strengthen youth awareness of the water industry.

WHy we do it

Early education helps students understand the value of water and the importance of protecting it. By engaging youth at an early age, we strengthen community awareness, encourage stewardship, and help plant the seeds for future interest in science, engineering, and careers in the water industry.

What's in it for You?

By joining the Youth Outreach Committee, you can:

  • Make a direct community impact by helping educate and inspire young students

  • Build outreach and leadership skills through meaningful volunteer opportunities

  • Represent the water profession and share the story of how water systems protect public health
