Welcome to Mission Monday! Mission Monday is the Illinois Section’s new webinar series designed with our mission in mind:  providing resources for the advocacy of safe and sustainable water through enriching membership, mentoring, and increasing public awareness. The education that you receive from this series is focused on the topics that you need to continue to supply safe and sustainable water to all of Illinois.  Once a month we’re bringing education to you on the topics you need the most. This series is free for our members and $25 for non-members. Not a member? Join today at AWWA –  www.awwa.org/join.

CEU TYPE: Drinking Water Technical (DWT)
WEBINAR TYPE: Technical

SUMMARY: The LCRR and LCRI have various triggers dependent on system size, whether lead lines are present, and the type of trigger invoked. The first part of the presentation reviews the triggers and type of study required. Next is an overview of the elements involved in conducting a corrosion control study including desktop, scale analysis, solubility studies, and demonstration studies. Of particular emphasis is when a system serving > 10,000 population with lead lines (or a system serving under 10,000 with lead lines that uses CCT) is over the AL the regulations require a “harvested pipe rig/loop study”. But the rules do not define what that is. This presentation will discuss the various types of harvested pipe studies available, the pros and cons of each method, and the key elements of a harvested pipe study. Method selection, planning for the study, rig design, operations, and data analysis will be discussed.
