SUMMARY: WICRD provides crucial free resources for water and wastewater utilities to prepare for, respond to, and recover from water-related emergencies. The EPA has developed the EPA Cybersecurity Risk Assessment Guidance for Drinking Water and Wastewater Systems publication to assist drinking water and wastewater system owners and operators with assessing gaps in their current cybersecurity practices and controls and identifying actions that may reduce their cyberattack risk. Additionally, community water systems subject to the requirements of America's Water Infrastructure Act (AWIA) section 2013/Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) section 1433 may use this guidance to assist in complying with the cybersecurity requirements for risk and resilience assessments and emergency response plans. This session will detail the EPA Cybersecurity Risk Assessment Guidance and how water systems can use the guidance to conduct a cybersecurity assessment of their Information Technology and Operational Technology systems.
In addition to learning and understanding how to leverage this guidance to assess cybersecurity risk, participants in this session will learn about the following subject areas detailed in the EPA Cybersecurity Risk Assessment Guidance:
EPA Cybersecurity Checklist; EPA Cybersecurity Checklist Factsheets; Free technical support designed to help evaluate and address cybersecurity gaps and free resources to assist with the evaluation and implementation of cybersecurity controls.
