TOPIC: This presentation will break down the fundamentals of policy and advocacy to tangible action items. Utilities can use these action items to have conversations with their elected officials. The first portion of this presentation will examine the bill making and budgetary process. It will also explore where legislative ideas originate, how bills become law, and outline technical aspects of the lawmaking process. Relationship development, establishing yourself as a resource for stakeholders, and time management will be discussed in the context of working with officials.
