10/13/21 Why do Municipalities Choose to Delay Technological Advancement? Technology Committee Sponsored Webinar IEPA #16215
CEU TYPE: Dual Credit Technical, Water, Wastewater
WEBINAR TYPE: Technical
IEPA#: 16215
SUMMARY: This
moderated conversation will focus on the following:
Regulations that municipalities follow often do not incentivize new technology adoption. New technology is often only adopted if it is directly required to achieve compliance. The possible benefit from new technology adoption for savings on maintenance and operations costs and ease of operations proves a difficult investment without a funding source or proven science to justify the potential savings. In addition, Engineers are cautious to recommend cutting edge technologies due to lack of proven success history.
All of these factors culminate in a large “chicken before the egg” situation. Find out how industry experts weigh into this conversation.
Panelists: Ermin Arslanagic, The Helm Group; Mike Skibbe, Village of Buffalo Grove; Dan Mann, Village of South Elgin
Moderator: Chris Sosnowski, CEO, Waterly
